    I installed the game.
    I Installed Patch 1 and Patch 2
    I Installed the CO8 Modpack 5.7.2

    Still couldn't loot.

Downloaded and installed the 33 KB No CD Crack.

    Still can't loot.

Tried again installing the CD Crack before the CO8 mod. Still can't loot.

I'm running Windows XP, 3.1 gig dual processor, 3.2 gig of memory.

    And suggestions will be appreciated.

it sounds like you have a vanilla hybrid.

did you let TFE-X fully convert vanilla into a module, then tell it to install the co8 module?
are you running the game via TFE-X (run TFE-X, then press run from within it).

you might need to do a clean install. Use the no CD before installing the mod on a clean install.

Are you launching the game from the front end app?

I've tried it both ways. I'm not sure what is meant by "did you let TFE-X fully convert vanilla into a module, then tell it to install the co8 module?" but I'll give it another try. That is probably my issue.

    I did a complete install.

    Installed Game
    Installed Patch 1
    Installed Patch 2
    Installed No CD crack
    Installed CO8 Mod.
Dialogue boxes during install stated that Mod pack converted default game to a module.
I launched the game via TFE-X
    Module showed active.
Started a game with two default characters.
Ran to the goblin. Killed it.

    STILL can't loot.

I'm not sure I need the No CD crack. I have a Temple.dll in my default installation, but that didn't work either, so I went to the No CD crack.

Ah, I see ... you're playing vanilla via the Co8 front end. The vanilla game is utterly unpatched by Co8 and is available simply for purists who want to try it. So that means that all its bugs are retained too, including the looting bug.

If you're determined to play vanilla, I'd suggest installing Atari patch 3, which is supposed to fix the looting bug but which also causes more problems and renders the game inoperable for some people.

Really, i would suggest playing some version of the Co8 modpack. You can play an older one like 3.0.4 (see the Downloads forum) that fixes the looting bug but doesn't contain much new content, if you're worried about staying true to the original or anything like that.

If by some chance you did intend to play a Co8 mod, you need to select it in the front end menu under 'module name' first and click the 'activate' button to activate it. Wait out the process (it may take a long time) and don't terminate it. The front end will tell you when it's done. Then click play. You won't see any goblins in Hommlet, and the splash screen will say "Co8 modpack 5.7.2 BETA."

the goblin has been removed since everyone thought it was stupid... the fact he is showing up at all proves you are playing vanilla...

when you first run the front end, did it have administrator rights?
try disabling UAC and running in admin mode for that initial portion...

you mean disabling UAC and running as administrator?

PS. I almost forgot... NEVER install a game into your program files directory.
Install TOEE into 'C:\Games\Temple of Elemental Evil' (can change the names naturally... just as long as it is not program files.
