Co8 New Content: Moathouse Respawn

Erm, I killed the witch right when I saw her in the room. D; did I botch the whole quest now? (talking to Kent did not create a 'moathouse respawn' quest in the journal btw)

Woah I meant the witch in the moathouse dungeon, surrounded by undead and eager to attack you on sight, but that's probably not the witch who sells you stuff, is she?

No she isn't. The witch that sells potions is a "bog witch" if you take my meaning...

I found the proper witch who 'sells' the ring now. The barter problem still persists on 5.8.1; you can't buy the ring of resonance from her in the barter screen yet. I have to kill her to get it.

I was able to buy the ring from the "Good" Witch in 5.8.0NC with no problem at all. Maybe I didn't have a problem because I had enough gold on hand to buy the ring without having to sell anything.

Ok, I need to know exactly where this witch is that sells rings. I've seen the witch in the middle of the swamp as you first enter the moathouse map, off to the right, but she only sells potions. I ain't seen no other witch. What am I missing?

Ya, I kill that witch in the bottom of the moathouse and grab everything. There's a note that I read and brought me to kill a few drow and then the sister witch gives me something as a reward. She doesn't stick around and be a vendor or anything. How do you get her to stay there and sell stuff?

Gaear fixed this recently I believe. If not, then try scrolling down, I think someone reported the ring turns up way down the inventory for some insane reason.

Necro - she only tries to sell you somthing if you didn't have the money in the first place to pay her: she offers to buy the Drow gear from you and generally lets you barter your way through things.

I can't seem to trigger the Moathouse quest. I have cleared out Level 1 in the temple, and level 3. I started to clear out 2, and I still couldn't get the the Dialogue from Brother Smyth. So I got on the Water Temple robes and took a quest from Belsornig and went back to Brother Smyth. When I ask for something different - nothing.

Help!!!

Sorry - should have mentioned that - Yes, I completed both quests, I see the Orc Cave as completed in my quests.

The conditions for you to get the Moathouse Respawn dialog are:

1. You have to be exploring Nulb or beyond that point in the game
2. You have to have at least spoken to Kenter Nevets regarding the orcs at Hickory Branch
3. You have to have not spoken to Brother Smyth about the Moathouse Respawn yet (i.e., he won't mention it a second time)

Given those, are you sure you haven't already spoken to Smyth? You have to also go speak to Kent before the MR will become activated, as Smyth tells you in his relevant dialog.

1. I have been in Nulb and I am almost completed the Temple.
2. I have talked to Nevers and completed the quest
3. I have not spoken to Brother Smyth.

I think that I may have a bad download, I will just finish my 5.8.0 game, and then replay with 5.8.1

Is the Gnarley Woods witch bartering okay?
Is the Gnarley Woods Drow battle more challenging?

I meant to tweak the inside witch's AI so she doesn't bomb her own troops with AoE spells, but I forgot. Will have to do that next time.

I think it was the drow leader that had it. If it wasn't him, it was another one of the drow, but I bet it was the leader.

If I remember correctly, the blade of fury was a +1 or +2 chaotic weapon.

It was definitely in 5.8, I have it now.

Well when I had the battle with those Drow, their tactics were off. Cast buffing spells and readied themselves while my party pelted them with a slew of arrows and polearmed charging warriors in the first round. Second saw the casters trying to cast while in range of my polearms.

Not sure what may be more workable, but maybe having the Drow prebuffed and with some more hp and levels?

You just have to go to Nulb and do your thang, (or someone elses thang, if you prefer) and come back later. In the mean time, dark forces will wander in, find the moathouse eplty and reoccupy it.

I thought I took the Blade of Fury out before 5.8? It should certainly be gone though as the second-most over-powered uber-treasure there. (#1 was also removed).

Hmm, I went to Nulb & did 3 favors:

-Mona's orb
-Wetz' money woes (& what's the deal w. him selling a house?)
-Grud's pike

Went back to the moathouse. No respawn/ witch.

I tried to help that cabinboy pirate w/ Wetz, but he refused.

You don't get a map from Lareth. You get a map from the Witch's corpse in the Moathouse Respawn.

You have to have talked to the leads Brother Smyth gives you for each expansion before the next can be available, assuming the story state condition is also met.

Hickory Branch - talk to Kenter Nevets
Brother Smyth's chest appears on the ground when story state 3 is reached (i.e. you've learned of Nulb) and Kenter Nevets has been spoken to regarding Hickory Branch. You need to open the chest and read the book inside it to start Arena of Heroes.

Welkwood Bog availability: story state 0 - the start of the game
Hickory Branch availability: story state 2 - after you've cleared the Moathouse

If you buy the house in Nulb, then it allows you to:
a. rest safely in your house in Nulb (I believe that some of your items may be stolen from you if you rest in the Waterside Hostel instead. If you kill Wat, Rentsch and Dala in the Waterside Hostel, then you can no longer rest in the Waterside Hostel).
b. get attacked by Rannos Davl and Gremag and their allies outside your home in Nulb if you did the chain of quests for Rufus and Burne (involving Rannos Davl and Gremag) properly.

The Blade of Fury and the Smith & Westrealm .50 are not in version 5.8.1 NC (assuming that you used to get them in the Gnarley Forest with the Drow party and Witch encounters), but the Ring of Resonance is.

Hm, I've got the story state listed wrong up there for the Moathouse Respawn. It should be 4 - after you've started exploring the ToEE.

Oh man, that Blade of Fury was a nice sword. I use to give it to Fruella. Whole lot better than the cleaver.

Just to clarify, the ring is meant to work with wizards and not sorcerors yes?

On a added note, I like being able to punch her out and make off with her ring. Classic chaotic moment!

Well it's now actually meant to work for all arcane casters, except that it doesn't. Just wizards for the time being.

If you don't find her ring useful, ask for a different reward and choose the necklace. It is a great item as well.
