Re: Status Report
Your're loosing hope on the world? Good we need more of it
![]() Apologies, guys - the distaff were somewhat reckless with our bandwidth and I had to take a month off the net. Back again! During that time, KotB made some small but definite advancements vis-a-vis the poison sup-plot and your ability to report crimes to the Captain of the Watch. He now interrogates folk and sends them off to gaol. Unfinished atm. I guess at this point KotB can be divided into 3 areas: 1) What I need to do: knock over the rest of the Caves of Chaos and get some testing going on there while I finish the rest of the quests in the Keep. 2) What I want to do: the whole alchemy / herbalism / knowledge / profession / spell components additions I want to see get up one day, which I believe have the capacity to add extra spice to practically every NPC and map in the game. 3) What I'm actually doing - a lot of housekeeping in the Keep, such as sectoring new Guard towers, the poison sub-plot mentioned above (which carries on from some extra work done on the Thieves' Guild) and some bits only hinted at in the Demo. It all has to be done ![]() Kick me again as necessary to keep you all updated

Re: Status Report
It happened again - wifey sent the broadband waaaaaaay over the limit, and I have had to sign up to a more expensive plan, dagnabit
But enough domestic grumblings. The good news is, the Goblin Cave is FINISHED! Yay! Quests, monsters, items, a back-up, and quite a nice effect whereby they naturally draw each other into the fight throughout the Cave. Very happy with that

Re: Status Report
Hi Ted
Glad to hear about the progress on the Goblin Cave. Any idea when a modpack might be posted ?? Also is your "Pet Control" fix ever going to be included in the ToEE Mods ?? By the way if you need a "Beta tester" let me know, I still have lots of time on my hands. TRC |

Re: Status Report
Great news Ted,
Do they still use limits on bandwidth in Australia? Haven't heard of that in Sweden for over 10 years. Really looking forward to playing KOTB, I been playing all alignments in Toee now and need to try something new. |

Keep on traveling Ted, one day soon we'll be all lit up by wondrous optic fibers. (Sometime in the next ten years of course.) I'll lurk with intent in the meanwhiles.

Re: Status Report
Hey, Australia INVENTED optic fibres!!!
![]() Anyway, update time. 4 new maps added! Together they form what is internally codenamed as 'Kar98' - the one big tower you can see in the inner bailey, which will be a composite of module areas 20 (whence it gets its name) and 23 (actual location in game). Here you will encounter the Corporal of the Guard, the Keep's Wizard, and some other stuff! Fun fun fun!

This looks like a GREAT game, I've been checking up on it for a bit now. I'd very much enjoy playing when it gets completed. Very good job and thanks to all the hardworking people here! :D

Re: Status Report
ShiningTed,
I just want to add my voice to the chorus of fans praising you for undertaking this ambitioius and exciting project. ![]() Like many others, I cannot wait to give this a try. About a year back I tried the demo you still have posted for download (patch version 1.11, I believe). It was really good and made me want more (naturally)! Do you have a more updated demo we could try? Your eager fans await another chance to delve into a more extensive version than the 1.11 demo offered up. Yours in appreciation and anticipation, NWSalmonwatcher |

I'm amazed at your perseverance (and apparent lack of serious mental illness) as a modder. Cheers.

Re: Status Report
Just about finished the demo. This is what the original should have been: an actual plot arc, genuine good/evil/neutral options, choices with consequences, etc. This must have been an incredible labor of love. The number of mods of this quality that are actually completed can be counted on one hand. I'm assuming, based on how long this project has been progressing and the fact that the author(s) actually check in occasionally, that this is in the final stretches? I am practically sitting on my hands in anticipation. I would pay 20 bucks for the full version in a heartbeat, and that only because I'm poor...it deserves more.

Re: Status Report
I haven't really been around for a while. Looks like there's still a bit of plugging away on this one. I applaud Ted's ability to keep working on this after so many years.
Is there still a serious intention of releasing a final product one day, or has a realization set in that the project is simply too big for one guy to ever realistically pull that off? Either way, looks like it's been a valiant effort. Would 2015ish be a reasonable timeframe to check back on this? |

Re: Status Report
Ted hasn't checked in here in weeks, and I hate dangling thread inquiries, so I'll make a statement.
The answer is I have no idea. Looking back in this thread, I did find this series of posts kind of humorous though: Quote:

Re: Status Report
Well, he checked in February and again in May. Which, in modder time, is actually fairly frequent. Both times he reported progress. My guess is he is working piecemeal, bits and pieces where he can in-between RL responsibilities and whatever other hobbies and joys he has. Having said that, it would be nice just to see him check in, even just to say "hey, I haven't done shit since the last update". Us nerds tend to be information-starved.

Re: Status Report
I haven't heard anything from Ted in quite a while. I did look at his wife's blog recently to make sure he's still alive and he is. That's all I know.
