Max HP/Level?

i am one of the kind of players who stubbornly insist on getting maximum hp each lv for my characters

now i spent many minutes doing this and get a little fed up trying at times

soooo ) is there any way to set the game to give max hp allways?

I would like a way to set HP gained per level...
I would probably set it at 75% (this is a varient from unearthed arcana, makes lots of sense... 75% flat per level, no rolling for HP... you don't roll for GAINING skills, why should you roll for HP?)

If this were seriously to be done, I'd b happy with a set minimum, say, instead of d8, have d4+4. I can live with the occasional 5. I tend to reload only if the roll was a complete shocker, or if the character was a wizard n really needed a good roll. Hence in my last play right thru, I did have a sorceror with better hp than my ranger. Cursed the Mersenne soundly for it, too!!!

Ki Rin - best bet is to look around for the console commands and then add in the hp yourself (if it's possible to do this). I can't help very much with this sort of thing because I never use it to be honest. Maybe one of the other people who have replied to the post can help you out with the right command.

to get max hit points open your console and type this in

game.party[x].stat_base_set(stat_hp_max,y)

x being the party memeber you want to change, 0-7
y being what the max hp should be without con bonuses. this is with each level added in for the total.

i have to do this each time i level up. its supose to be a one time thing but it doesnt work that way

The monsters actually roll for hitpoints. Sometimes this means they're exceptionally wimpy. Other times it makes them really tough.

It's not supposed to be a one time thing. What you're doing is setting the character's current maximum (as in unwounded) hitpoints. You can set it to any value you like. It doesn't have to be the maximum possible HP. It can be greater or smaller.

Powergamers rejoice :)

Well, I did this quick hack for temple.dll.
Max HP is given on levelup...

Doesn't maximize hps for levelups made before applying this hack, of course. For that you would have to use console as described in the post above.

Edit:
current version is
http://files.co8.org/patch/MaxHP_Setup.exe

Very nice, that should make a lot of people happy. Did you use the dll already hacked by moebius?

Drifter, I used the file and patched the temple.dll but I'm not getting any change at all. Does this require patch 3? I'm only patched through #2 and using the Moebius fixes, Fan patch, and Livonya's mod. Any ideas? Awesome patch, would love to get it to work!

And I thought it was self-explanatory...
Sigh.
1. Download maxhp.zip.
2. Unzip maxhp.exe anywhere (but if you unzip it to ToEE game folder, it will be a bit easier in step.3)
3. Run maxhp.exe. Three buttons:
"Patch" - injects this hack into temple.dll. Push da button. FileOpen dialog pops up, locate temple.dll (if you put maxhp.exe in game dir you should see temple.dll right away), select it and push "Open". If everything went ok, you'll get messagebox saying - "Patch successful!".
"Restore" - removes hack from temple.dll. Same steps as above.
"Exit" - closes maxhp.exe.

Good stuff, Drifter.

Just one question: Which version of the temple.dll does this patch? The official one, or moebius' modified file?

The only requirement is dll from patch#2.
This little patch doesn't overlap with moebius' changes, nor does it require them. Which means, it works on both official and moebius' (since they both are from patch#2).

This is such a time saver!

So far this patch is working great and with no discernable bad effects. Thanks Drifter.

this should be made into core co8 stuff.... its tiny, its useful, and it can be used to activate and deactivate the change safely and easily.

Ya know...

...it strikes me that Drifter is so knowledgeable in these matters. I wonder if he's a nomad, or simply a wanderer, or perhaps a little bit of both?

That is NOT true. Monsters do not get max rolls. In fact NPCs have a variable for their 1st level as well. So while you always get max hit points on level 1 all NPCs with multiple class levels have to roll for their hit points for the level 1.

yap... it just sometimes seem like they are getting very good rolls because sometimes you fight extremely tough monsters for their CR... and the ones that get bad rolls, they are forgotten.

Drifter-- It's great that your able to hack the .dll, but I won't be using this hack (I will use the 16+ cha bard spells fix though) I don't believe that you should be able to cheat the game - fix it by all means.

BTW were you just on the irc? If so come back please, (I have some questions for you)
