I traveled to Hommlet with Lareth as part of my party, he disappeared and now I am trying to find him to rescue him from jail. Which Jail is he in?

I looked there, could not find him. I thought maybe he was taken to the Verb jail when he wasnt there, but I havent made it to that city yet.
You need to go into the bandits guard tower at ToEE and promise the leader that Lareth is alive and that you will come back with him. I think this should trigger Lareth's imprisonment in Burne's tower but just to be safe I should ask Rannos where Lareth is......
Rannos and the Guard tower people are dead. I told the tower leader he was still alive, but he attacked me anyways. When Lareth ran off I just assumed he was in jail somewhere, I did not know there where other triggers. Maybe he is in limbo somewhere? I checked the bottom levels of Burne's tower and the Church (as it uses the same map as the Verb prison) Though I have not made it to Verb yet to check there.
As mentioned, you need to handle the Tower guards diplomatically. And perhaps it should be stressed - the diplomacy should be successful for the rest to trigger. Spoiler: Spoiler After all, if the Tower guards are dead, Lareth has nowhere to go back to, and the subplot is kind of rendered pointless.
I rescued Lareth and escorted him back to the Temple. But the next time that I went back there, he wasn't there. Did he just go out for milk and he'll come back later? I can still rest in that room, but I had hoped to be able to sell stuff to Lareth.
