Post System Speed Enhancer (SSE)

Hi all, I made a program that stops and starts unnecessary services. This is a replicate of Game Booster's functions <not all>.

Please use it at your own risk! I'm not liable to any system damages made by this program. This program is fully-functional and ethical.

Note: Do not execute any commands if the program is in sandboxed mode (avast) until you set it "open it normally", as it will caused you an automated system-bootup.

https://www.virustotal.com/file/a841...a564/analysis/

Note: The viruses that are scanned by antiviruses are false-alarms! I repeat they are false alarms. I may need to report and submit the file as false alarm to the AV companies, so they can flagged it as "safe".

Please comment

Edit:
I've already submitted the files for analysis. They will update their virus definitions within a day or two. So I will update the <virusuploader> link here. Bytehero has no uploading site for analysis, so ignore the false alarm.

Re: System Speed Enhancer (SSE)

In the few years I've been visiting this site I can't think of one person complaining that TOEE was to much for their system and asking how they could make it run faster.

TOEE is a game designed to run on machines circa 2003.

Are you experiencing significant system resource draws on your machine when running TOEE, Zoltec?

Re: System Speed Enhancer (SSE)

Hmm, the answer is yes, I'm experiencing those dilemnas, process being eaten-up by other resource-hog processes hindering ToEE from running smoothly. But this program is not solely used for the purpose of "ToEE" but to gain some benefits by freeing up more memory so that it can process more resource and queue-up other significant programs.

As for you, I know that you have a mid-range computer and I'm accepting that fact. Yes, you won't know when you will need such program, some people who have business computers or older ones i.e. can't afford graphics card, compatibility issues or just bored to upgrade.

Nowadays some online softwares can't be trusted. Their intent is out of software ethics. Some of them hack, degrade and steals information. So this made up my mind to create a simple tool to eliminate security paranoia.

I'm contributing this freely so those who is in need of such program. I uploaded it here so it means this site is exclusive to it, but if you want to share this its fine as long you follow and agree with the license I've chose.

Edit:
The reason that they have no complaints here regarding with ToEE performance and the like, is the fact that this is not the real site for computer tweaks and they've just know it, this is for General ToEE Modding Community.

Re: System Speed Enhancer (SSE)

I think you might be mistaken when you say this is not a site for tweaking a machines performance, actually there are a few threads where some of the advanced IT professionals that visit here have given their advice on various topics other than TOEE.

I have a great deal of respect for you Zoltec, if your intention is to provide an option for people to have a better running system as long as that is all you are offering them.

Oh, and my system far exceeds a medium spec machine, unless quad core i7 is considered medium now.

EDIT: What concerns me Zoltec, is when you give a program the ability to turn off processes that means you've given the program admin rights to the machine because you cannot turn off processes without logging as admin, (MySQL 101).

Re: System Speed Enhancer (SSE)

I see maybe, I need to read more but some of the older threads are gone.

No, that will pose even more security risks to windows. I think there is a possible work around to implement it ethically by making the program identify if the user is an admin or a limited user. If the program identified it as an admin user then the option to kill process is enabled vice-versa with the other. I will not release such a program that is vulnerable to hack and which can breach even the most poorly made security. I'll think a hundred times before I release a powerful program. We must think of the others first, we create then they trust, its not all about money its about how we can help the people and enjoy our hard work earnings. We have software ethics and we must follow it for the greater good. It seems that I'm acting to be a good guy here but I'm not. I'm just portraying the truth in a very very big window of Elmo's world that's how the world goes now that's why we have this unfinished ToEE.

Re: System Speed Enhancer (SSE)

@Zoltec, I'm sorry but this whole business sounds too shakey to me, so I've removed your .zip file.

The reasons:
  1. Like sirchet mentioned above, I question the need as regards ToEE.
  2. Co8 is not really in the business of being a third party purveyor of software, particularly that which is not directly related to ToEE.
  3. Co8 generally does not promote or provide fully-functioning 'stand-alone' software - e.g. we usually don't deal in executables. The modpack does now contain the ToEE executable, yes, but you still can't run ToEE without the game. WorldBuilder is the only other example I can think of, and that is a rigorously tested software suite made by our most advanced modding guru and associates that is specifically intended for modding ToEE, which is what this site is all about.
  4. We don't want to be responsible for infecting anybody's computer with malware, and the safety of this software still seems unclear.
  5. I'm dubious of your copyright claims, which by association could get us into hot water. We don't want that kind of hassle.
  6. It just sounds shady, sorry. You seem to be dealing in parts of the previous software that got shot down as shady ... how are we supposed to feel warm and fuzzy about that?
  7. Co8 has worked for a long time to build a reputable image. This kind of thing generally harms that.
We obviously can't control what you provide or host independently (nor do we want to), but please don't put anymore of that stuff up here at Co8. ToEE mods - fine; other stuff - not so much.

No hard feelings - we just need you to get with the ethos here.

[edit]

Here are the Co8 official rules for your review. Please note items 3 and 4.

Quote:
The following is a list of rules that are obligatory for all users of the Circle of Eight forums.

1. You should respect the administrators and moderators of the forums.

2. Do NOT spam. Don't make senseless posts and posts unrelated to the topic of the forum. Don't post the same thing over and over again if your questions don't get answered immediately. Be patient and wait for someone to answer, if no one answers, it means that no one knows the answer.

3. Do NOT advertise. If you think that whatever you are promoting may be a useful resource to the community, PM one of the staff members, and your request will get the deserved attention. The promotion of sexual enhancers, stolen software, scams, etc. is strictly prohibited.

4. Do NOT post material related to any form of pornography, disturbing, illegal stuff including, but not limited to: warez, ROMs, mp3s, and so on. Your posts may NOT contain any links to illegal content as well.

5. Please be corteous to other users. Do NOT post flames and do not insult anyone. If you disagree with someone, make sure to do it in a civil manner. Respect others as you would respect yourself.

Re: System Speed Enhancer (SSE)

I sure hope I haven't discouraged you from making any more portrait packs.

I bet if you felt inclined to do so, you could come up with some pretty awesome additional content for the actual mod.

That content I would be looking forward to.

Re: System Speed Enhancer (SSE)

@Gaear, Yeah my bad. I've searched for the forum rules, but it seems that I can't get my eye into it. If you can only just give me the privelege of giving its source code to the needy, then this will have a very good closure , and I need to clarify some things first.

I'm OK with to 1-3 and 7, but not likely with the following.

4>. I'm doing all my best to report the claim of viruses as false alarms, as this batch file is only forced to be compiled by some .bat to .exe converter, so it means its 100% clean.

5>. Nope it won't hurt anyone, I've got the free creative commons license here http://creativecommons.org/about.

6>. Hmm, shady? I've just recently created the .batch commands through research. I'm not dealing with the gamebooster parts and its not possible without getting the source code or reverse engineering the software, seriously I'm not into that level yet, I'm just replicating its functions. My program is made in a simple .batch file so we don't need to call it shady, please don't make things spice up its not cool.

I'm really into ToEE mods; Its alright you won't be seeing anymore stuffs like this from me. I hope that this exclusion is not beyond the "quality reasoning of elitists".

OK, duly noted: but there are some rules that are bothering me prior to be "illegal".

3>. My stuff posted here right now is original and legit, its not stolen or anything.

4>. I'm not really into posting illegal content here, I'm following the forum ethos - OK.

Well, that's the fact and my opinion.

Re: System Speed Enhancer (SSE)

In my opinion, if you really want people to think your code is trustworthy, it should be released as open-source, with instructions on how to build it, and the expected checksums of the compiled binary files such that they can be verified by an independent 3rd party.

Re: System Speed Enhancer (SSE)

As stated above "if" Gaear will agree, Gaear?. I don't want to contribute and will never if the admins themselves will flag it as stolen, shady, copyright-breached or illegal w/o adequate reasons. I'm re-assuring the Co8 community, this source-code has the same functions as the one I've posted.

I don't really care with the forum mindset i.e. elitists *quality of work, its just that, the admins here have the authority, so I must comply with their terms which is "a must". When this is approved then I will post it here! and if you can improve the source code then prove it here. Remember we always start from scratch, we can spice-up things and improve it whenever we want, so forget about the quality as long as there is a space to it. So GL with the others who wants to eagerly contribute to this great community, just don't forget your ethics.

Re: System Speed Enhancer (SSE)

I just wanted to remind everyone of the part in rule #3 that says ; If you think that whatever you are promoting may be a useful resource to the community, PM one of the staff members, and your request will get the deserved attention.

Seems simple enough to me, if I wanted to post an .exe file, or any other type of file that may rise suspicions that I thought would be helpful to everyone else, I would pm an admin and arrange for them to look it over.

I must agree with Zoltec, the admins are who hold the jurisdiction and it is their opinion that is binding in these matters.

Re: System Speed Enhancer (SSE)

Thanks, Gaear. But I have more things to prioritize first in the real world. So I'll post the source code w/ how to? build instructions, together with my first mod in one-bundle on May, 27.

Edit:
One question, can I integrate the latest patch file to my mod files? so that co8 players don't need to install the latest stand-alone patch for v7.2.0.

Re: System Speed Enhancer (SSE)

I wouldn't suggest that, as patch files can (and very likely will) change frequently and we don't coordinate individually on that. It's always best for modders to base their mods off of the latest full release.

Post Re: System Speed Enhancer (SSE)

As promised, here's the source code.

For those who have unresponsive systems, this is for you.

Ok, I'm giving this to anyone* who only needs it. Only for windows xp users*

You can develop many useful batch files like this, if you research more on the web. Ha bout me? I always lean on mr. 'Google'

How to compile this in a batch file?

1. Open your notepad
2. Put the quoted source code in the notepad
3. Click file, then click save as
4. Put <desired filename>
5. Put .bat extension ex. name.bat
6. In save as type, select 'All files'
7. Click Save, your done. Start the batch file and enjoy.
