A little administrative note here: you don't have to post many "e"'s and "P"'s for people to hear you, it won't make people help you faster than they possibly can. Please stick to the less emotional "Please help" form instead.

Ok, I tested this and had no trouble making the tennants appear, even without actually instigating the quest (or even DH - I just started a new game, went straight to the weaver's house and they were there). I also tested AFTER instigating the quests, and there they were.
Did you clear the map cache?

Surely that's not right though is it Ted? I mean I could turn them off until the quest has been mentioned, then turn them on again if you'd like me to.

What happens if someone kills them early in the game and, later in the game, the player talks with Lila and starts the DH quest? Wouldn't that mess up being able to complete the quest?

Well, they are now halflings, not goblins, who may dance badly but otherwise offer you no offense. So essentialy you're asking, "what if someone just goes around killling the inhabitants of Hommlet, won't it interfere with later quests?"
Yes, yes it will.
But in this case, it would most likely just mean you can say to Sunom "I fixed the problem" pretty much instantly, because the leader's death flag will be up.
Al, I see what you are saying, but does it really matter? We can't get rid of the music - Gaear's recent adventures with music and saved games proves we won't ever be able to change music midway thru a game (alas). So if the music is there, there may as well be a bunch of folks dancing to it. If people don't like it, they can treat it like every other loft in Hommlet - just never go up there again.

Cool :)
Co8 is based on the patch in English and I think that some languages may have problems if they use their localised patch. I think the only possible exception might be German (Morpheus was doing something on this).
A la prochaine!

Actually, I had the same problem, but after reading the posts here, I did the following to fix the issue:
1) Walk back downstairs
2) Save Game
3) Exit
4) Launch TOEEFE, enable "Clear map cache"
5) Load game
When I walked upstairs after that, the tenants were there...
Don't know if the problem is not experienced much because you experts are so used to having Clear map cache checked? Maybe try starting a game without it checked if still interested in finding the bug.

hope I haven't posted this twice, but did have missing tenants.... reload and restart solved it.

Another thing to check out for (just a general point) is that you have no .pyc files in your /scr folder if you have installed a patch which replaces .py files in the /scr folder. That can also cause fubars.

For the record, I had the same problem, from the beginning of my first game (fresh 5.0.4 install). Found this thread, quit, checked off "clear game cache", and it worked.
