The Bard ability Suggestion allows the target to break out of its fascinated state whenever Suggestion is resisted. Per the SRD, "using this ability does not break the bard's concentration on the fascinate effect, nor does it allow a second saving throw against the fascinate effect." Source:

    http://www.d20srd.org/srd/classes/bard.htm#suggestion

I discussed the matter with a couple of PnP folks and they have agreed to the same interpretation.

In its current state, Suggestion is a high-risk, low reward ability. Why allow a fascinated creature an extra saving throw to break free? If Suggestion could only improve the situation (fear > fascinated), the ability would provide value it currently lacks.

Actually, from what I saw it doesn't break the fascination. Are you sure about that?

If so, please provide a save that shows this.

The same file I posted for the Good Hope bug (http://www.co8.org/community/index.php?threads/so-templeplus-exists.11774/page-26) can be used.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Summon an enemy using DM tool. I used a Hill Giant.
    2. Fascinate the giant using the bard/rogue character.
    3. End turns for everyone until it's the bard/rogue's turn again.
    4. Check the combat log. There should be 2 failed will saves from the giant - one for the initial Fascinate and another for an attempt to break free on the giant's first turn. If the giant broke free, reload the file and start all over.
    5. Use Suggestion on the giant.
    6. If Suggestion succeeded, the giant is now "Afraid." Since we want Suggestion to fail, reload the file and proceed to step 1.
    7. Otherwise, a brief "Not Fascinated" message is shown and the giant loses its "Fascinated" status. The log still shows the same 2 failed will saves from step 4.
    8. The giant proceeds to attack the party on its next turn, since it's no longer fascinated.

It appears that we have 2 issues:

    1. Whenever the enemy saves against Suggestion, the saving throw isn't displayed in the log. If the enemy never gets a saving throw, this issue should get resolved on its own.
    2. Enemy is able to break free from Fascinate via failed Suggestion.

That's what I did, didn't get it at all at first, seems like it only happens some of the time (and it's definitely a bug).
Also if it says "Not Fascinated" it means the fascination expired before the Suggestion attempt. Will have to investigate.

Enemies get saving throws every round against fascination and the rolls are recorded in the logs. Under normal circumstances, we see successful will saves before fascination is broken. In this case, enemies never save against Fascinate - something to do with Suggestion allows them to break loose.

Alright, found the issue and fixed it.
It was a bit tricky to recreate, since it required specific die rolls! So as a bonus you'll now have a "Fudge Rolls" tab in the DM UI :)

    Thanks for reporting!
